Dear Parent,

I would like to thank you for your interest in my services and take this opportunity to introduce myself.  My name is Monette Alterio, I am 34 years old.  I have been caring for children for the past 12+ years.  My husband of over 9 years is very supportive of my work with children and often helps me supervise the group in the late afternoon or evening when he is home from work.  We have two children of our own our son Gabriel, 6 years old and daughter, Marissa 4 years old.

I am in the process of National Accreditation with the NAFCC.  Accreditation means that my home childcare will exceed State requirements and meet national standards.  You can find out more information on the accreditation standards at www.nafcc.org.  I am also member of the Solano Family & Children’s Services, a resource and referral organization, which strives to raise the standards of childcare through education and legislation.  I also use an excellent preschool curriculum called HighReach Learning; you can get more information on this at www.highreach.com.  I have taken training workshops in infant and child safety and CPR, effective methods of nurturing positive growth and development in children, proper nutrition for children, and curriculum ideas.  I am also currently enrolled and working towards my BA in Early Childhood Development.  I do have an Associate Degree in Business as well.

I have chosen to care for children because I enjoy watching them learn and grow.  Childcare continues to be a rewarding experience for me.  It is wonderful to see how well children respond to a supportive, loving environment.  I know that by teaching young children I am making a long-term contribution to the people they will become.

I have been licensed by the state of California to care for 14 children in my home.  This means that, after investigating my background, visiting my home and collecting written references regarding my character and abilities, the state of California has given me approval to care for children in my home.  In addition, I must adhere to their strict guidelines for excellence in childcare.

I provide a variety of activities for the children each day.  We have time for crafts, interactive group activities, free play, songs and stories.  I have both indoor and outdoor toys and equipment available for play.  Indoors there are a variety of blocks, books, musical instruments, dolls, tools, cars, etc.  My backyard is fully fenced and equipped with a built in sandbox, toddler slides, ride-on toys, balls, etc.  Following California State guidelines, I also provide healthy meals and snacks for the children and am a part of the California Food Program.
